The Impressions Jazz Duo consists of members Emily Steinwall on Saxophone/Vocals and Hayden Farrar on Bass. The two musicians began playing as a duo in the summer of 2014 at a local restaurant. In numerous other contexts, Steinwall and Farrar have been playing together since 2013, and have performed at venues such as The Jazz Bistro and The Jazz Room in Waterloo.

Emily Steinwall : Saxophone and Vocals
Emily Steinwall is a saxophonist, flutist and vocalist from Toronto, Canada, and has performed around the city in many various groups as both a leader and a side-man. She is currently studying woodwind performance in Humber College’s Bachelor of Music program. Emily has had the fortune of studying closely with some of Canada’s finest jazz musicians, including: Kirk MacDonald, Lorne Lofsky, Alex Dean, Seamus Blake and Mike Murley. Hayden Farrar: Bass
Hayden Farrar is an upright and electric bassist, composer and educator living in Toronto, Canada. He has studied jazz bass with such in-demand musicians as Neil Swainson, Tim Lefebvre, Matt Penman, Rich Brown, Kieran Overs and Mike Downes as well as composition with David Occhipinti. Hayden has completed his Bachelor of Music from Humber College with honours in 2014 as well as the Humber College Intro to Jazz Certificate Program with Honours in 2010. In March of 2013 Hayden also had the opportunity to share the stage with Jack DeJohnette during Jack’s residence at Humber College.
